Ashok Sethi and Thomas Kaus launched the second edition of their highly regarded textbook on implant dentistry on September 7th, 2013, at the Royal College of Physicians. The first edition had been translated into 10 different languages, which was the motivation for the second edition. The changes that have taken place in technology and material sciences over the past 10 years were incorporated into the new edition of the book. Follow-ups of some of the cases described in the first edition are part of the new edition and were also presented during the book launch event. During this day, which was dedicated to changing paradigms in Implant Dentistry, they also launched Practical Implant Dentistry - PID - The Academy to further the science and art of implant dentistry – in a practical doable way. PID-Academy will provide structured hands-on implant training, which meets the training standards as endorsed by the General Dental Council.
